Bach to Blogging Fuguing Media(s)

Time flies or has it been me who's been winged, and wonged. Taking [this] Time[NOW] to blog-on. Since 2012, BAME issues have lamed, now 2017, no people of color are deemed to be talented sufficiently to be included in the Beeb's 2017 Talent of the Year line-up. Hmmmmm but the Tate Modern(e) has THE SOUL OF A NATION full-on at £16(!!squids a Head of any colour...) like appropriated minerals and environmental resources from listed colonies and exploited other shores thisvEXhibition- kinder than the UK, FR & USA World's Fair of yesterday years- with their preponderous - is that a word-LIVE ethNIG villages-actually was quite poignant in the age of even greater mass encarceration of black/Latino/Asian youth for minor crimes and cheap labour appeals wait. Slavery's footsie & Nasdaq at an oh the Times increased  levels.

The Tate Moderne's exhibition THE SOUL OF A NATION should be free to the public as a gesture of Soulidarity- there are plenty of expensive anciliatory items including a Fav catalogue accompanying this exhibition. Including recorded music.

Since the last entry the worldview been privy to Blk Female(s) Film Writer/Director/Producer Ava  Devernay, Producer Effie Brown, Amma Asante, Baz Luhrmann up in the Bronx, NALIP coming of age nationally re-addressing Hurtwood & the Latino image, Marta Moreno Vega got her new Caribbean Cultural centre Bach at Centre- en La Cocina between the HARLEMS but just east of the overland railroad Metro-North Line .... Where many rode to Ossining- Sin-Sin.... Or to the freedom of the long path and Northern Appalachian trails crisscrossing the Catskills & Adirondacks to places of pioneer learning for the community in NY State Colleges & University campuses-

Much does happen in a relatively short span of time - virtual ill reality is upon us- you can see puke in 360.....yum. Oh then there was a phat Congressional erection. Puerto Rico was where the birth control pill was pioneered at the expense of 20% sterilisation of Tainas- but c'mon " sin Vaselina" times are upon us straight from sin Condom Hill bullying like never before. That a small island - of over 500'yearsvof constant abuse and exploitation - of a human count of approximately 3.5 Million, eye M sure there's lesser now have a debt of 120 Billion- and never lived like Sheiks is ludicrous.

Musician Jerry Gonzalez embraced by Spain's Gitanos all the way up to Cigala, Paco de Lucia  (RIP) has been celebrating 50 years of practicing the Fort Apache, Piratas del Flamenco as well as Piratas de la Clave and avoiding another ceiling collapse in his bubble which also brought him and his film impresaria Andrea Girau Zapata-Gonzalez Mae de la estella bebe Julia( aka La Gritona- lucky moi) to a sell-out 2 nights gig at Ronnie Scott's after a 15 year high-at us...my film crew definitely had an experience with this Trickster from Gildersleve Haj in da Bronx Bach in the Daze....

CHARIOTS OF FIRE: the passing of producer Jake Eberts and financier Dodi Fayed, Allied Stars

The UK film industry is a wash with stories of foreign entrepreneurs that sit in the histrionics's of excel sheets and the middle of words lost in an abyss of a culturally ironic American weave. What I mean is that once you start to address the evolution of film in the UK you start to realise how crucial the Americans, Canadians, French & German and currently the Scandinavian producers have been to the UK Film history screen.

I have an in-law relative who was a good friend to Producer Jake Ebert, I had anticipated eventually meeting him after having met Hugh Hudson at a New filmmakers Skillset, UK Film Council sponsored do for novice indie producers. Hugh took an interest in a bio-pic I have been developing for many years. Hugh Hudson directed CHARIOTS of FIRE you see. The period it was set in was similar to my Black character's life story. This was a reserve in the back of my mind, things loop, come around and thus make for a small world of happenstance and surprises-one never knows what's around the bend sort of speak.

Last night I was taken aback by the passing of Jake Ebert at the age of 71. He produced and created Goldcrest in the UK. A Canadian who spoke French, makes sense as my in-law is French. Goldcrest under his most revered helm and trusted handler of spread sheets and the footsies and NASDAQ was a UK Film Industry boost back in the mid '80s. Having green lit such films as The KILLING FIELDS, CHARIOTS OF FIRE and GANDHI after accidentally making a killing 5,000 times over with WATER SHIP DOWN an animation. Alongside the likes of Lord David Putnam who I bumped into in Cerkenwell in mid-East London near the Guardian newspaper while waiting for a bus and Richard Attenborough or Hugh Hudson came a string of newcomers I have had the pleasure  of meeting and rubbing elbows with in the cottage-village of the UK film "Industry." Amongst these villagers I came across after hitting the indexes of several research books on the growth of this particular quaint village full of deep secrets but the most oblique is it's relation to that same Hollywood culture and American taint it resists. Hypocritically it has always shown it's disdain for the star system and it's unique SWOT the one attached in the vehicle known as P&A and sponsorship. Ironically the 2012 OLYMPICS with it's proud entourage of unpaid volunteerism and team spirit uniforms in Saintsbury colours -mauves-and not to knock the Gold Medallists and the spectacle of spectacles; overpriced, over secured, over the top and over spent didn't ever mention that it's thematic traditionalist hyped film CHARIOTS OF FIRE was actually an investment that DOTI-AL-FAYED solely financed. That's where the irony lies again.

CHARIOTS OF FIRE was financed by Dodi Fayed, son of Muhammad al-Fayed, boss of Harrods in 1987. An unbelievable Oscar wins for a 'period' British film about class, anti-Semitism and running.

The follow-up and the elbow-rubs years later for me are people like Stephen Wooley, Nik Powell, Richard Branson (met in the stock room to thank him for the lovely party featuring pop-rock artists Sean Lennon and Lisa Loeb best mate of my X' at the opening of Virgin in Union Square, NYC) Neil Jordan who I have yet to meet but I use his monocle that "in the UK if you do more than one thing well you're considered arrogant,"  Bruce Robinson a friend of a friend whose creation actor & folk hero Paul McGann of Withnail & I met in a private social. Arriving in the UK 2 days before 911 from my then Home, NYC. I had no clue and knew no one and couldn't even address the issue with my partner who was a Brit X-pat.

The film industry is all about relationships first followed by scripts and star tags and accomplished directors waiting to spend a money roll of risks and dreams. Producers are in the market of selling dreams. Many fail but those that do keep our appetite alive through the grim and tales that make up life's amazing turns. A good story has no frontier. But for me the truth of how these and by whom these stories manifest our attention on the wide screen and help us divulge from the drudgery of a monotonous  existence is what excites me the most. It helps me calm down and carry-on. A movie is the tip of an iceberg or in this case the fulcrum of a pyramid. Kudos to Dodi Fayed, credit where credit is due. An iconic mystery as Harrod's in British post-colonial traditionalism.

The Palace became a village of players that 'til this day in the UK film Industry have made their mark. But still Working Title rides the shadow of Universal as well as 650 options by Miramax many UK scripts in development. To be continued

Bums on the seats post the 2012 OLYMPICS. Are there any cinemas in the Olympic Village?

LONDON's 34th Boro....

A WEEK IN London, AUGUST 2011

Keeping aback from over-reacting to the 2011 British Riots; an action that has stirred up futile party power politics, the long-term lack of communication and advocacy in matters of policing and in developing creative solutions to bureaucratic technicalities and how the absence of any solutions amongst these voted-in authoritarian, academic and global capitalist constituencies has lead to the intangible factor that has cracked a social-politico and ethical crack. The crisis of "looting,' the careless crisis towards Urban youth, the in-balance rearing it's historical head characteristic of colonialist apathy. England's 7th Generation has taken it's aggression out in it's own backyard, it's own front
gardens in it's own "home.' Is this true or just Ultra-Media fodder again. On the initial 'day of wrath' while surfing through our licensed TV programmes I noticed Kubrick's "CLOCKWORK ORANGE" was featured, of all days. The Beeb was image-less-no news footage from it's backyard-lots of heads reciting verbiage and speculating but no real reportage, that took several days and the world has questioned it, at least the social network world, Twitter was enforce, some say it was the cause and modus operandi of this 'controlled looting.' Organised? It's been over a week of fires and displacement and even Kaos. I figured who would be receiving a Pulitzer for being at the right time at the right place and I was correct. Amy Weston's image of a Polish woman jumping to avoid being cindered; back lit by a blazing fire makes for powerful imagery. Of course my interest was more in how Aljazeera and RT TV covered the events as they evolved including the 'accidental' murders and the pillage and carnage that would follow a culture of 'hooliganism and debauchery' right up there with Hollywood's Blockbusters, Notorious video game industry, Banksters, the lack of incentives and the constant pressures of joblessness, complacency, new world dis-order, a little racism thrown in for spice but especially a 'Class of Stats-Relying Clever Social Administrators' who could care less except for their own well-being. It's obvious, History and Mr. Starkey have been in bed together. Who is at fault is so last century. Now this generation that has a minority of looters and disgruntled victimised by the same system that wants rule and order but lives according to it's own agenda and that it's own retribution in the light of obvious abuse of elected power and the people's money can only say "we're sorry, we didn't know?" to all accusations of fowl play. Is that Ethical business, is that an example of good morals and optimism. Is this something to be enthusiastic about, is this fair and justifiable. Obviously not in any which way or matter. Change is the only constant in life and well here it is, maybe it's time to use this Crisis for little maintenance low-cost creative improvements. I mean we're talking 'KIDS here. Maybe they should collectively say "WE'RE SORRY." http://youtu.be/tRmZ9zH-mYM
